 November 27, 2013

Frozen_(2013_film)_posterFrozen is an upcoming American computer animated musical-fantasy comedy-drama film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is very loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Snow Queen, and will be the 53rd animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. The film will feature the voices of Kristen Bell as Anna, Idina Menzel as Elsa the Snow Queen, Jonathan Groff as Kristoff, andJosh Gad as Olaf the Snowman in speaking as well as singing roles. The film is currently scheduled to be released on November 27, 2013.

Walt Disney Animation Studios has been working on its own adaptation of The Snow Queen, most recently after being scrapped in late 2002. However, as of March 2010, Disney had shelved the project again. As of June 2010, Disney announced that the film was put on “hold.” On December 22, 2011, following the success of Tangled (formerly Rapunzel), Disney announced a new title for the film, Frozen, and a release date, November 27, 2013.A month later, it was confirmed that the film would be a computer animated feature in stereoscopic 3D, instead of the intended hand drawn animation. On March 5, 2012, it was announced that actress Kristen Bell would provide her voice to the lead character, Anna; Chris Buckwould be directing, with John Lasseter and Peter Del Vecho producing. Bell did the recording sessions while she was pregnant. After she gave birth, she re-recorded some lines as her voice had deepened, and there were “more womanly tones.”

In addition to Bell’s casting, Disney cast Idina Menzel as Elsa the Snow Queen. On November 30, 2012, it was announced that Jennifer Lee, one of the screenwriters of Wreck-It Ralph, had joined Buck as co-director. On December 19, 2012, it was announced that Jonathan Groff would voice the role of Kristoff. It was also announced that Alan Tudyk, who voiced King Candy in Wreck-It Ralph, would voice the role of the Duke of Weselton, along with Santino Fontana who would be voicing Prince Hans, and Josh Gad who would be voicing Olaf the snowman.

The film’s animators visited an Ice Hotel in Quebec, Canada to study how light reflects and refracts on snow and ice. For the film’s setting, the animators used the landscape of Norway and the feel of the winter season of Wyoming for inspiration.

Filming was supposed to commence from November 2011, with scenes involving Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra being filmed first, but lead actor Bachchan went on a paternity leave and shooting was eventually postponed to January 2012. In January 2012, the schedule was pushed to June 2012 because of lead actor Aamir’s prior commitments with his TV show Satyamev Jayate and again in June the filming schedule was further postponed for a month because Khan wanted to prepare himself for his role of a gymnast. Additionally, Khan wanted to concentrate on marketing and promotions of his 2012 film Talaash. Without any further delays, filming commenced with Jackie Shroff and the child artist, playing the role of childhood Aamir Khan on 8 June 2012 at Yash Raj Studios, Mumbai. Aamir Khan joined the filming in July and filmed for only 5 days at Yash Raj Studios and, then in Chicago, U.S.A.. An industry insider revealed,“Aamir was the only actor from the lead cast who was present at a suburban studio for the final shoot. As Victor (Vijay Krishna Acharya, director) was shooting the last scene, the atmosphere got extremely emotional. After it got over, there was a round of applause that didn’t stop for almost 10 minutes. Everyone got extremely teary-eyed.”

First of its kind, the title logo of the film was released in a video that credited the main roles of the film. The score for the video constituted paced beats and electric guitars and was released on Christmas 2012 through Yash Raj Film’s official Youtube channel, confirming the film to be Christmas 2013 release. The first working as well as promotional poster was also released exactly a year prior to the actual release date of film. In August 2013, YRF released a motion poster of the film on Youtube revealing the first look. Krrish 3

Krrish 3

November 1, 2013

Krrish_3_PosterKrrish 3 is an upcoming Bollywood superhero science fiction film. The film will be produced and directed by Rakesh Roshan. The film will continue the story of Rohit Mehra and his superhero son Krrish, after Koi… Mil Gaya (2003) and Krrish (2006), this being the third film of the Krrish film series. Both the previous films were hugely successful at the box office. The film was supposed to released along with its 3D format on Diwali, November 4, 2013.However, due to lack of time to convert the film to 3D, Rakesh Roshan later confirmed that the film will be released only in the 2D format. The film has been rescheduled to release on November 1, 2013.

Following the success of the previous installments, director Rakesh Roshan planned to develop a second sequel to the franchise, with Hrithik Roshan playing the protagonist again. He had penned the script, but had to re-work it as the storyline was too similar to the Hollywood blockbuster Spider-Man 3. Priyanka Chopra was later confirmed to reprise the role of Priya. In this film, she will be seen married to Krishna Mehra.

Next, Chitrangada Singh announced her inclusion in the project as a mutant. Singh was later replaced by Jacqueline Fernandez, however she later on also backed out of the film due to a lack of dates. It was reported that actresses Nargis Fakhri, Esha Gupta and Bipasha Basu were to replace Fernandez. Kangna Ranaut has finally been confirmed to play the role, who coincidentally was originally offered the role. Rakesh Roshan had earlier revealed to media that the main antagonist of film would be as powerful as the hero. After talks with Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan fell through, Vivek Oberoi was eventually cast for the role.

In January 2011, Lakshmi Manchu claimed to have been offered a role in the film as the antagonist’s girlfriend. The film has already started making profits. Its overseas distribution rights were sold to Eros International while Rakesh Roshan retained rights in Mumbai. There was also initial speculation that Rekha would play a major role in the film, which was later denied as a rumour.

Promotions for the movie started post July 2013 and the first look of Krrish 3 was unveiled online. Response for the poster was quite enthusiastic from the audience. The first trailer video was published by film makers on their official YouTube channel on 5 August 2013. It received more than 2.3 million views at YouTube within its first day of release and thereby surpassing the record held by Jab Tak Hai Jaan of 1 million views in one day. Krrish 3 trailer became the most watched Bollywood trailer on YouTube with 12 million views within two weeks, even eclipsing the trailers for such Hollywood superhero blockbusters as Thor (2011) and The Avengers (2012). Press reaction has been positive to the teaser trailer with many stating it echoes the look of recent superhero movies from Hollywood such as Iron Man 3, theAmazing Spider-Man and Man of Steel. Author of Bollywood: An Insider’s Guide, Fuad Omar wrote on his blog that such comparisons were unfair given they were based on comic books and intellectual properties that had been developed over decades. He commented that Krrishwas very much an original character created by Rakesh Roshan and developed by Filmkraft and so the film and character deserved credit for setting a new standard for an original superhero which has not been seen elsewhere in the world. He also stated that no other filmmaker in India or elsewhere has managed to achieve what Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan have in completely creating a new character and comes out with a hugely successful franchise that is original and has fueled a fanfare similar to those of comic book heroes yet with Krrish’s story still being written with each film.

The film’s trailer, which released on 27th August 2013 received some positive response from critics and viewers alike. It crossed 3 million views in just 10 days. Ronit Roy, who plays the role of a police officer up against the titular character, Boss marking the first instance where he is the antagonist of a film. It is also the second consecutive instance where his role is that of a cop with Shootout at Wadala being the last one where he portrayed the role of Inspector Raja Ambat, based on real life encounter specialist, Raja Tambat. Ronit along with Akshay Kumar have an action sequence at the climax of the film, one of the highlights of the film which were shot in temperatures exceeding 47 degree Celsius in Thailand involving high octane stunts that were carried out in the end successfully by both the actors.

Video promotional for the first and title track of the film was released on YouTube on 30 August 2013 on the official channel of T-Series, the music label which has purchased the music rights of the film and subsequently for legal purchase as a soundtrack single on digital music platform, iTunes. The song named Boss Title Song composed by Meet Bros Anjjan, sung by Anjjan Bhatacharya,Harmeet Singh & Manmeet Singh consists of rap verses performed by Yo Yo Honey Singh with lyrics penned by Kumaar. The promotional video for the second song of the film composed and sung by noted Punjabi Singer and Rapper, Yo Yo Honey Singh and lyrics by Sahil Kaushal touted to be the costliest music video ever produced in Bollywood with a production cost of around INR6 million (US$92,000) was released on 6 September 2013 after an effective promotional strategy of building hype around it by releasing two teasers named Aunty Police Bulalegi and Bajatey Raho respectively. The teasers containing snippets of the song of length 12 and 10 seconds respectively were both released on 5 September 2013. The song Party All Night being marketed as an party anthem, earlier reported by Indian Media to be Sari Raat Party was made on a budget in excess of INR6 million(US$92,000) with the fee of Sonakshi Sinha being INR6 million (US$92,000) itself thus making it the expensive Bollywoodmusic video ever shot. For Sonakshi Sinha it marks her third special appearance in a song since she had earlier featured in the songs Go Go Govinda and Thank God Its Friday from the 2012 film OMG – Oh My God! and2013 film Himmatwala respectively. In the former she appeared alongside Prabhu Deva and it also starred Akshay Kumar in a supporting role. Akshay Kumar, who portrays the title character, Boss and Yo Yo Honey Singh also appear in the track along with 600 foreign models hired for performing as background dancers. The dance moves of the track are choreographed by Sumit Dutt and Raju Khan with Sumit Dutt having earlier choreographed songs like Desi Beat, Dhinka Chika and Character Dheela from the 2011 films, Bodyguard and Readyrespectively. The song “Party All Night” was launched on television during grand finale ofDance India Dance Super Moms, a reality TV series. The reason for choosing the stage being Mithun Chakrabarty’s or Mithunda’s as he is fondly referred to by Akshay Kumar involvement in both the film and the TV show. He plays the role of Akshay Kumar’s character, Boss’s father in the former and is a judge in the latter. The ninth track of the music album titled Boss Ganpati – Mix was added to the soundtrack later on request of Akshay Kumar and was recorded two days prior to the release owing to the huge appreciation of the title track which released 10 days ago and this is a version of the song with lyrics crediting the Hindu Elephant God Ganesh as the boss or king of all gods. The lyrics are written by Kumaar while the song was composed by Meet Bros Anjjan. This version differs from the original one in respect of lyrics pertaining to the Lord and use of Dhols and Lejhim beats. The track will be distributed free of cost across the Ganesh pandals across the city of Mumbai and the state of Maharashtra on the first day of Ganesh Chaturthi which will be visited Kumar himself to offer prayers also. The song Hum Na Tode composed by first time composer P.A.Deepak who has previously mixed sound most notably for A. R. Rahman in Academy Awardwinning film Slumdog Millionaire and consequently won a Grammy Award for it. The track, Hum Na Tode is an adapted version of the immensely popular Tamil song, Apdi Pode Pode’ or as it is known in Tamil Appadi Podu from the film Ghilli sung by Vishal Dadlani. The song Har Kisi Ko Nahi Milta composed by Kalyanji Anandji for the 1986 film Janbaaz was re-adapted for the Soundtrack by Chirantan Bhatt and has two versions.
